The water buffalo a keystone species
The water buffalo, powerful and imperturbable, is more than just an impressive animal in the landscape. It plays a key role in natural processes: by grazing, trampling and bathing in shallow water, it keeps the landscape open, creates variety and provides space for countless plant and animal species. In this way, the water buffalo demonstrates how large grazers contribute to a vibrant, dynamic natural environment in which everything is interconnected.
